On a rain-soaked pitch at the Nakuru Athletics club, Mwamba secured the Prinsloo Sevens title with a thrilling 12-7 victory over Homeboyz on Sunday, August 18, 2019.
The match was a closely contested affair, with both teams locked 7-7 in regulation time. However, it was Mwamba's Maleck Itendwa who broke the deadlock in extra time, scoring a sudden death try that sealed the win for his team.
The victory marked a remarkable comeback for Mwamba, who had earlier crushed Kabras Sugar 19-12 in the quarter-finals and beaten hosts Nakuru 12-8 in the semi-finals.
Homeboyz, on the other hand, had beaten Starthmore Leos 22-14 in the quarters and thumped Menengai Oilers 25-0 in the semis.
Earlier in the day, Nakuru had overcome Impala Saracens 14-7 in another quarter-final match, while Menengai Oilers had beaten KCB 14-12.
Elsewhere, Nondies won the Challenge Trophy after thrashing Kenya Harlequin 24-15, while Western Bulls secured the 13th place title with a 21-0 victory over Blak Blad.
Daystar University also emerged as the Division Two winners, defeating Mean Machine 10-5.
