On a promising note, Swamibapa Sunday's cricket team began their Nairobi Invitational Cricket League 50 Overs tournament campaign with a four-wicket win over Kongonis at Nairobi Club on August 18, 2019.
Kongonis, batting first, set a target of 138 runs, which was achieved in 37 overs. Tony Ochieng top scored for Kongonis with 32 runs off 59 balls, including two boundaries and a six.
Joseph Onyango and Paul Anjere also contributed significantly with 30 and 22 runs respectively. Jadavji Bhimji was the main executioner for Kongonis, taking 4 wickets for 23 runs.
Swamibapa, in reply, chased down the target with ease, reaching 138 with four wickets in hand in just 27.2 overs. Rakesh top scored for Swamibapa with 46 runs off 37 balls, including eight boundaries.
Elsewhere, Kanbis beat Nairobi Gymkhana by 85 runs, while Sir Ali Muslim Club defeated Ruaraka by nine wickets.
