Published on August 18, 2019, Burnley manager Sean Dyche has spoken out against the growing problem of diving in the Premier League.
Following a 2-1 defeat at Arsenal on Saturday, Dyche expressed his concerns about the state of the game, stating that players are 'falling on the floor, diving all over the place today.'
However, he clarified that his comments were not directed at Arsenal specifically, but rather at the broader issue of diving in the Premier League.
'I said I was unhappy with the greater good of the game. Not Arsenal. The game is in a really poor state for players diving, feigning injuries, all sorts. I find it peculiar,' Dyche said in a post-match news conference.
Dyche also criticized the current system of punishments for diving, which he believes is too lenient. 'I was at a Premier League meeting a couple of weeks ago and they told us that the worst that can happen is a yellow card. So basically every player in the Premier League can cheat at least once a game,' he said.
He suggested that a more effective way to address the issue would be to ban players who engage in diving, stating that 'it would be out of football within a month.'
