On Friday, Peter Magara, a former Jubilee strategist and key member of the Gusii Professionals Group, died in his hotel room in Kisii under unclear circumstances.
According to his widow, Jane Nyambura Magara, her husband had been exhibiting unusual behavior and had shown signs of stress in the past week.
They had sought medication at a private hospital in Kisii, but Magara stepped out of the hotel at night and was found dead outside the hotel on Saturday morning by the hotel staff.
Magara was part of President Uhuru Kenyatta's campaign team in 2017 and had also worked with Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang'i and Health PS Susan Mochache.
As the Chief engineer at Fair Mount Hotels-Nanyuki, Magara's professional expertise will be missed, according to Dr. Joseph Birundu and Engineer Henry Otara, who condoled with the family.
On August 17, 2019, the family had tried to restrain Magara for two days before his body was recovered on Saturday morning, according to Kisii County police boss Martin Kibet.
