On August 18, 2019, the Guinea Football Federation (Feguifoot) issued a ruling that would change the lives of two prominent football figures.

Former Harambee Stars coach Paul Put, 63, has been banned from ever coaching in Guinea in his lifetime, while Feguifoot's vice-president Amadou Diaby was suspended for seven years.

The Ethics Commission of Feguifoot found both men guilty of breaching the institution's code of ethics and its code of discipline.

Put's tenure as Guinea's coach ended in controversy, with the team exiting the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in the Round of 16 in Egypt.

Put was also ordered to pay a fine of $110,944 (approximately Sh11 million), while Diaby was fined $27,736 (approximately Sh2.7 million).

Put's departure from Guinea was not without its drama, as he was accused of inciting players to demand their allowances, leading to an 'atmosphere of mistrust'.

Put's stint as Harambee Stars coach was short-lived, lasting only three months in 2017. During that time, he won the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup but left the job citing lack of support from the Football Kenya Federation (FKF).
