On August 18, 2019, Kenyan chef Maliha Mohammed made history by breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest time spent cooking. She cooked for an impressive 75 hours non-stop at the Kenya Bay Beach Resort in Mombasa.

Ms. Mohammed's achievement surpassed the previous record of 68 hours 30 minutes 01 seconds, set by Rickey Lumpkin in Los Angeles, USA, in 2018.

For her record-breaking attempt, Ms. Mohammed prepared a list of 400 recipes of local and international cuisines. The food she prepared will be donated to charity homes and orphanages as part of her initiative to raise awareness and feed the less fortunate in Mombasa.

Ms. Mohammed, a 36-year-old mother of two, had previously attempted to break the record in May 2019, cooking 100 recipes in 36 hours non-stop. She later increased her preparation time to 54 hours in July 2019, cooking 200 meals before going for the final competition supervised by officials from the Guinness World Record.
