At just 17 years old, a young man began his life of crime, committing heinous acts of rape. However, his journey took a dramatic turn when he was arrested and locked up by the police.
According to him, being locked up and released by the police actually increased his street credibility in the criminal circles, making him a more feared figure.
But there were also those who believed in his potential for change. He recounts an incident where he was almost murdered by the police, but a few officers saw something in him that they believed could be redeemed.
Today, he is a reformed rapist, working with an initiative called Ndugu Dada, which aims to empower women and return the power and control that he once took from them.
He shares his story, highlighting the pain of change, but also the importance of community involvement in stopping rape. He urges more men to join hands and work towards a society where women are safe and respected.
