On Sunday, police officers in Siaya County apprehended a 39-year-old fisherman accused of attempting to defile a 7-year-old minor at Ndeda Island.
According to Nyang'oma Division Assistant County Commissioner Samson Akach, the suspect, Joshua Otieno Ochieng, was caught red-handed by the minor's mother while indecently touching her private parts in his house.
The suspect allegedly picked the minor from where she was playing with her other siblings, saying he was going to buy her sweets, only to be reportedly caught trying to defile her.
The mother raised an alarm, alerting members of the public who came and arrested the suspect.
The man was detained at Bondo Police Station pending arraignment.
