On August 18, 2019, Chinese authorities launched an investigation after a firearm was discovered in a package sent from the US to China via FedEx.

The package, which was sent by a US client, contained at least one firearm, according to the Jin'an district police in Fuzhou, eastern Fujian province.

Police seized the firearm and are currently investigating the incident, although they did not specify the number of weapons in the package.

This incident comes as FedEx is facing multiple investigations in China, following a series of delivery mishaps related to Chinese telecoms giant Huawei.

Earlier in May, FedEx apologized for 'misrouting' a 'small number' of Huawei packages, which led to a review of its ties with the courier service by Huawei.

Additionally, a Chinese government probe launched in June accused FedEx of holding up more than 100 packages from Huawei, further escalating the tensions between the two companies.

The ongoing tussle between Huawei and FedEx comes as Beijing and Washington face off in a trade war, with both sides imposing steep tariffs on hundreds of billions of exports.
