On August 18, 2019, a devastating suicide attack shook Kabul, Afghanistan, leaving a trail of death and destruction in its wake.
The Islamic State group (IS) claimed responsibility for the attack, which targeted a wedding in the city's west, killing at least 63 people and injuring many more.
According to IS, one of its fighters detonated a bomb at the wedding, while others detonated a parked explosives-laden vehicle when security forces arrived.
The attack occurred as Washington and the Taliban were in the final stages of a deal to reduce the US military presence in Afghanistan.
