On August 30, the Bamburi Rifle Club in Mombasa will host an IDPA-sanctioned tournament, organized by the Kenya Gun Owners Association (NGAO).
The tournament has been approved by the International Defensive Pistol Association, and the match director, Master Sammy Onyango, expects over 100 participants.
Onyango, a recently promoted Master shooter, will be assisted by a team of safety officers, including Martin Mbutura, Alex Migwi, and Sunny Syan.
The safety officers will be the first to shoot on August 30, followed by the rest of the competitors during the two-day competition.
“Everything is going according to plan. We call upon shooters from around the country to come out in numbers,” Onyango told Standard Sports.
Firearms Licensing Board chairman Charles Mukindia has pledged to support the activities of the NGAO and their pursuit of IDPA Shooting as a sport.
“We are happy that NGAO has been approved to host a tournament of such magnitude. This will definitely place Kenya on the world map. We are proud of the continued growth of the game locally and as such, will do everything within the law to assist them develop the game,” Mukindia said.
