September 4th, 2017, marked a significant day in Kenya's political landscape as former Meru Governor Peter Munya publicly endorsed former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, the NASA presidential candidate.

Speaking at a rally attended by other NASA luminaries, including Raila himself, Munya declared that the Party of National Unity (PNU) had joined forces with NASA. He was accompanied by other PNU officials and the party's senatorial candidate in Meru.

According to Munya, when Raila's votes were being stolen during the election, he too was a victim of the same injustices. He emphasized that he could not support those who had stolen his election, implying that he was now backing Raila's presidential bid.

As the 2017 general election approached, Munya's endorsement of Raila Odinga marked a significant shift in the political landscape of Meru County.
