On Saturday, Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua launched several garbage collection and disposal trucks in Tala Market, Matungulu Sub-County, as part of his efforts to improve the county's environment and livelihoods.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Mutua emphasized the need for a generational change in leadership, stating that Kenya is ready for a new breed of leaders who can ensure money gets into the pockets of its people.

“Kenya is ready for a generational change and the old breed of leaders should now pave way for the young. We need new leadership that will ensure money gets into the pockets of our people,” he said.

Dr. Mutua claimed that Kenyans are tired of being broke and poor while a few people and some corrupt leaders swim in wealth, and urged Kenyans to support his bid when the time comes.

During the event, Dr. Mutua inaugurated 400 new large garbage bins, six new skip loaders, two modern compacting trucks, and a street light truck.

He called on residents of Machakos County to utilize the new machinery to improve their environment and livelihoods, saying that a clean environment is a requirement for good health.

Dr. Mutua also appealed to Machakos people to avail themselves to be counted in the forthcoming census, stating that the data collected will determine the distribution of national resources.
