On August 17, 2019, the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPA) announced a price hike for fuel in Kenya.
The price of a litre of super petrol increased by Sh3.07, while diesel prices rose by Sh0.39. According to the EPA, these prices are inclusive of the eight percent Value Added Tax.
The surge in fuel prices was attributed to a combination of increased landing costs for refined fuel, as international crude prices continued to rise.
Motorists in Kenya can expect to pay higher fuel costs due to the higher landed costs.
