On a visit to Kericho to attend the Kenyan Inter-Counties Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA) games on August 17, 2019, Deputy President William Ruto left the crowd in awe with his athletic prowess.

At the Kericho Green Stadium, Ruto did nine push-ups before a ceremonial penalty kick against Governor Paul Chepkwony, sending the crowd into a frenzy.

"The Ministry of Sports will in the next one year complete the construction of all the sports stadia the government committed to finalising. Beyond that we are going to have sports academies in every county in the country," Ruto said.

Responding to Ainamoi MP Slyvanus Maritim's request for sports academies in the counties, Ruto emphasized the need for collaboration between the national government and counties to invest in the youth.

While congratulating Laikipia county for winning the inter-counties tug-of-war, Ruto attributed the win to the mursik diet, which the team had been put on.
