Published on August 17, 2019, Maina Kageni, a popular radio host on Classic FM, expressed his frustration with men who sleep in women's houses without contributing to the household expenses.

According to Maina, such men are not normal and have mental issues, and women should treat them with contempt. He emphasized that it is abnormal for a real African man to sleep in a house where he isn't paying rent, calling it 'stupid.'

During his morning show, 'Maina and King'ang'i,' Maina took issue with men from Nairobi's Eastlands areas who invite themselves to women's houses. He noted that these men have no shame and refuse to leave when they find themselves in comfortable houses.

Maina also criticized men who use phrases like 'What have you cooked for me?' to cleverly ask to be invited into the homes of hardworking women in affluent areas like Karen, Runda, Lavington, Kileleshwa, and Muthaiga.

He urged men to be comfortable with their class levels and not try to elevate themselves by dating women from higher social classes. Maina suggested that men should date women from their own locality, saying, 'If you live in Mathare or Kibra, please go for women from your locality. In this way, she will be the one coming over to sleep at your place.'

Callers to the show, especially women, were in full support of Maina's views, sharing their frustrating stories of dealing with men who sleep in their houses without contributing to the household expenses.
