On Friday, August 16, 2019, Chief Justice David Maraga emphasized the need for collective action in addressing the increasing cases of defilement in Kenya.

Speaking during the opening of the Nyamira Law Courts, the CJ warned that sexual offenses continue to destroy the lives of energetic youths, with many of the perpetrators being among them.

He appealed to the elderly and church leaders to guide and counsel the youth, urging them to play a crucial role in preventing such offenses.

Additionally, the CJ directed the judiciary to decentralize its administration of justice services, bringing it closer to the people.

Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama announced plans to set aside offices for the local judiciary, which will be dedicated to magistrates handling land succession and mediation cases.

Nyamira Senator Okong'o Omogeni called on public servants to ensure that government resources benefit local residents.
