Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) officials will conduct the census in Migori County starting August 24.
As part of the preparations, entertainment spots in the county will be closed on that day, according to Suna East sub-county deputy county commissioner Daniel Mutiso.
Mr. Mutiso explained that the move will enable officials to have easier access to residents during the night, ensuring the census is conducted with 'utmost seriousness and integrity.'
He assured residents of security during the exercise, stating that security officers will accompany KNBS officials to homes.
Speaking to Radio Ramogi, Migori County police boss Joseph Nthenge added that security officers will be ferried to Migingo on boats.
According to the 2009 census, Migori County had a total of 917,170 people, a number which is expected to increase by half.
