On August 17, 2019, Kenya Harlequin FC finally spoke out on the sentencing of rugby players Alex Olaba and Frank Wanyama to 15 years each in prison for gang-raping a female musician.

The club stated that they supported the court's decision, emphasizing that they do not condone any form of sexual violence and strongly condemn rape against women.

Kenya Harlequin FC had initially remained silent on the matter, citing the need to respect the legal process until a verdict was reached.

However, after the court's determination, the club released a statement expressing their support for the outcome and thanking their supporters for their patience and understanding.

As a club, Kenya Harlequin FC aims to offer help and guidance to its members, whether they are dealing with success or difficulties. The club reiterated its stance against sexual violence and rape, and expressed trust that the two players would be accorded a fair hearing in their appeal.

The two rugby players were convicted of gang-raping a musician on February 10, 2018, after their professional rugby careers at Strathmore University and Kenya Harlequin.
