On August 14, 2019, DJ Moh Spice, a popular reggae deejay, was arrested after he was photographed with a pistol tucked under his belt during the birthday party of DJ Kym at K1 Klubhouse in Nairobi.

The photos of DJ Moh Spice with the firearm went viral on social media, prompting an outcry from the public.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the DJ had no case to answer on the accusation of firearm licensing and was released on the day he was arrested.

However, the DCI noted that the DJ is a licensed firearm holder and it is up to the National Gun Owners Association of Kenya to determine what to do with him as a member.

As a civilian licensed to carry guns, DJ Moh Spice is required to conceal them at all times.

His firearm is still being held by authorities for full examination, as is the norm.

He was released on police bond with no criminal charges but faces disciplinary measures.
