Delicious Baked Sweetpotatoes and Sausage Salad

Published on August 17, 2019, this recipe showcases a healthy cooking method that yields mouth-watering results.

By baking sausages, you can achieve a crispy exterior and a juicy interior, similar to frying, but with much less oil. This recipe combines the baked sausages with sweet potatoes, buttermilk, and a blend of spices to create a refreshing and flavorful salad.

Ingredients:

  • 8 baked sausages
  • 1 iceberg lettuce
  • 1 cup buttermilk (maziwa lala)
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic ginger paste
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 large sweet potato, washed and baked
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander for garnish

Instructions:

Begin by washing the iceberg lettuce and separating it into large chunks. Set it aside.

In a separate bowl, combine the buttermilk, garlic-ginger paste, turmeric powder, cayenne pepper, and salt to taste. Mix well.

Chop the coriander into small pieces and add it to the buttermilk mixture. Set it aside.

Cut the baked sweet potato and sausages into slices.

To assemble the salad, place the iceberg lettuce in a deep plate. Dip the sweet potatoes into the buttermilk mixture and mix well, then place them on the lettuce. Add the sliced sausages and garnish with coriander.
