Lucas Digne is set to face Watford at Goodison Park this weekend, a game that will bring back fond memories of their previous encounter last season.

On that occasion, Everton trailed 2-1 deep into injury time before Digne scored his first goal for the club with a free kick, securing a valuable point.

Published on August 17, 2019, Digne reflected on that moment, saying: “I remember that Gylfi Sigurdsson was also stood over the ball. I looked at him and said: “I feel like I can score”. He said it was no problem, left it to me and as soon as I struck the ball, I knew it was bending inside the post!”

With two of his four goals for Everton last season coming from free kicks, Digne emphasized the importance of practice in his goal-scoring ability.

Everton will be looking to build on their nil-nil draw against Crystal Palace in their opening match, a result that Digne described as not the best but a game where they created plenty of chances.

As the team aims to carry momentum from last season into the new campaign, Digne expressed his excitement to return to Goodison Park, a place he considers a fortress.

With new players joining the squad over the summer, Digne acknowledged the challenges of adapting to a new culture and lifestyle, but expressed confidence in the team's ability to start the season well and have a special year.
