David Murathe, a former Jubilee vice-chairman and close confidante of President Uhuru Kenyatta, has made it clear that Uhuru will not hand over power to Deputy President William Ruto. Speaking at a fundraiser at PCEA Ngewa Church in Githunguri, Kiambu, on June 21, 2019, Murathe stated that Uhuru has vowed not to allow a thief to rule after him.

‘I know one thing for a fact that: Uhuru will not leave the country to thieves and a thief will not rule after him because Uhuru is not a thief,’ Murathe said.

Murathe also criticized Deputy President William Ruto and his team, Tangatanga, for stopping work for Kenyans and instead promising to work for them in 2023, three years ahead of the next election. He questioned the logic of being given work by Kenyans in 2017 and then telling them to stop now and deliver in 2022.

Furthermore, Murathe lashed out at Mt Kenya Jubilee leaders, accusing them of being used to fight and antagonize Uhuru. He described them as filled with hubris, hurling abuse at the President.
