Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta has declared August 26 a public holiday to ensure citizens are counted during the census.

According to a statement by the President, August 26 will be a national holiday, allowing citizens to stay at home and participate in the census without any disruptions.

The census is scheduled to take place on August 24 and 25, and the President has assured citizens that their safety will be guaranteed during the process.

"I have declared August 26 a public holiday to ensure that citizens are counted fully on August 24 and 25," President Kenyatta said in a statement.

He also assured citizens that the government has taken necessary measures to ensure their safety during the census, including the deployment of security personnel and the use of biometric data to verify identities.

President Kenyatta has also emphasized the importance of the census in determining the country's population and allocating resources accordingly.
