Kenyan MP Millie Odhiambo Challenges Men to Care for All Children

Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo has once again challenged men to take care of all their children, both born in and out of marriage, to avoid unnecessary drama after their death.

Speaking in Mbita on Wednesday, August 14, 2019, Millie Odhiambo said as a woman and wife, she was ready to take care of all the children her husband may have sired out of wedlock.

She argued that taking care of all her husband's kids would save her from after-death drama, as members of the family would have been made aware of all his biological children.

Millie Odhiambo also used the opportunity to urge men to patch things up with their lovers and take parental responsibilities before it is too late.

She said, 'I have told Mabona to bring back all children he sired out of marriage. I am ready to take care of them because I don’t want any child to suffer because their father and mother are not married. If my husband Magugu Mabona gave birth to some children out of wedlock, let him incorporate them in my family.'

The ODM politician was speaking during a ground-breaking ceremony for Kenya Medical Training College, Maris campus in Mbita.

Millie Odhiambo is currently drafting a bill that will compel men to indicate the number of biological children they have while alive.

She observed that cases of women and children claiming recognition after kin's demise were on the rise, and a simple mechanism should be formulated to deal with such cases.
