Two Men Arraigned for Selling Bhang Cookies in Voi

On August 14, 2019, at around 3pm, police in Voi, Taita Taveta County, arrested two men with bhang cookies worth a total of Sh700.

The suspects, Jeremiah Shake and Ngure Kiroshi, appeared before Resident Magistrate Anne Karimi at the Voi Law Courts, charged with being in possession of the cookies laced with bhang.

According to the charges, Shake was found with cookies worth Sh450, while Kiroshi had cookies worth Sh250.

The two denied the charges and were released on Sh200,000 bond with a surety of a similar amount.

The case will be mentioned on August 29, 2019, and heard on September 26, 2019.

Police have launched investigations to establish the chain of distribution, with the origin of the package of the weed cookies yet to be established.
