On August 16, 2019, during the ground-breaking ceremony for a new Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) in Mbita Constituency, Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo made a passionate plea to men to accept their illegitimate children.
She declared that she was willing to accept her Zimbabwean husband, Magugu Mabona's, illegitimate children, if they exist.
Millie urged men with love children to embrace them to avoid the drama that may arise later and to ensure that the young offspring don't suffer discrimination because they are unknown to the family.
She also revealed that she was preparing a bill that would compel men to take responsibility for the children they sired.
According to Millie, the bill would force men to declare their children while alive, and in cases where they fail to do so, it would be legal for their mothers to declare the child/children's father.
Her remarks come in the wake of the revelations of Ken Okoth siring an illegitimate child with a Jubilee nominated MCA identified as Anita Thumbi.
Several other incidences have also been witnessed by men failing in the responsibilities of their illegitimate children.
