August 16, 2019 - The Orange Democratic Movement party is facing a daunting task in selecting its candidate for the Kibra Member of Parliament seat, following the death of Ken Okoth.

Party leader Raila Odinga has convened a meeting next week to discuss the selection process, according to Suba South MP John Mbadi.

Speaking to the Standard, Mbadi revealed that the party has three options: a secret ballot, consensus, or direct nominations.

According to Mbadi, Raila Odinga has outlined three key criteria to be used in selecting the next Kibra MP: the candidate's ability to win the seat, their commitment to the party's values, and their potential to serve the people of Kibra effectively.

Several leaders, including Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris, have urged Raila to endorse Ken Okoth's brother Imran Okoth for the seat.

Former MCA Pius K'Otieno, ODM National Youth Coordinator Benson Musungu, and Imran Okoth are among the four aspirants vying for the seat, with three of them seeking the ODM ticket.

Former campaign manager Eliud Owalo has quit the party but has not ruled out his interest in the seat, while Edwin Sifuna has also been mentioned as a potential candidate.
