On August 16, 2019, the government announced a significant allocation of Ksh1.2 billion for infrastructure improvement in secondary schools and Ksh300 million for primary schools in the current financial year.
Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha revealed that the government, in partnership with the World Bank, has earmarked Ksh8.2 billion towards improving infrastructure in schools in 30 counties in marginalized regions of the country.
Prof. Magoha made the remarks at the KICC grounds ahead of the 3rd National Conference on Education Reforms at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre, which was slated for Friday.
Over 2,000 delegates were set to attend the conference, which aimed to provide a platform for discussing the state of education and how best the country can improve the quality and relevance of education for its youth.
Prof. Magoha emphasized that the National Conference has created a forum for academicians, religious leaders, policy, and opinion leaders to discuss and reach a consensus on education reforms that will ensure the sector develops useful human capital.
