On August 15, 2019, DJ Moh Spice, a well-known Kenyan reggae artist, was arrested by the DCI following a public outcry over a photo of him with a gun at a local club.
The photo, taken at the Space Lounge Club in Ngong Road, showed DJ Moh Spice with a Steyr pistol tucked into his lower front torso.
According to a tweet by the DCI, detectives from the Special Crimes Prevention Unit (SCPU) arrested DJ Nicholas Mugo Mwangi at the club and confiscated a Steyr pistol and 174 rounds of ammunition.
However, just a day later, DJ Moh Spice was released by the DCI and was seen spinning at Whiskey River, where he seemed to be in high spirits.
His brother, Kym Nick Dee, also celebrated his release on social media, posting posters of the night event with the caption 'Nobody can stop reggae.'
