On August 16, 2019, a Murang'a court made a significant ruling in the case of the alleged murder of Maureen Wanjiku Mwihaki, a university student who was found dead on August 11 at St Mary's village.
Resident Magistrate Sheila Nyaga ordered that the four suspects, Brenda Wanjiru, Maureen Wambui, Allan Muchangi, and Joseph Waweru, be detained at Murang'a Police Station for 14 days.
The suspects were arrested on Wednesday during a training for the upcoming census at Kirogo.
The court also ordered that the body of Maureen Wanjiku Mwihaki be preserved at Murang'a District Mortuary until the matter is heard and determined.
According to the court ruling, the application by Murang'a North police investigator Pius Kasuni to detain the suspects was allowed, and a postmortem report will be shared among the lawyers.
