Bomet MCA Charged with Assaulting Woman

On July 13, 2019, a disturbing incident occurred at Chebunyo market in Chepalungu sub-county, Bomet. Chebunyo Ward Representative Joseah Chepkwony allegedly physically assaulted a 34-year-old woman, Joyce Sigei.

According to the charges, Chepkwony slapped Sigei on the left cheek, kicked her thigh, and pushed her into a trench, causing her bodily harm. The incident was reported to have taken place at Chebunyo market in Chepalungu sub-county.

Appearing before Bomet Principal Magistrate Pamela Achieng, Chepkwony denied the charges. He was released on a cash bail of Ksh.10,000.

The case is set to be mentioned on August 28, with the hearing scheduled for September 29, 2019.
