Former West Ham stopper Adrian made his first start for Liverpool in the absence of the injured Alisson and saved the decisive spot-kick from Tammy Abraham to secure victory for Jurgen Klopp's side.
However, several people watching the match believe that the forward's penalty should have been retaken after a replay showed that Adrian crept forward from his line as the shot was struck.
"Adrian was miles off his line, should've been retaken. UEFApool at it again" tweeted one Chelsea fan, while another added: "Adrian's legs were off the line though. I thought this was a rule?!"
A third continued: "Surely that has to be taken again because of how far off the line Adrian was?"
"Adrian was off the line when Tammy Abraham took his penalty," said a fourth. "Goalkeepers are supposed to have at least one foot on the line. Should have been retaken?"
A fifth viewer concluded: "So, genuinely what is the point of VAR?!. Adrian clearly has both feet off the line when Abraham strikes the ball, but it’s not been retaken. Utterly ridiculous. "
