On August 16, 2019, a one-day soccer tournament will be held at the iconic Camp Toyoyo grounds in Eastlands, Nairobi county, marking a significant step in Kenya's football development.
Odibets, a betting company, has entered into a partnership with European football agents to scout local football talents. The event will be hosted by former Harambee Stars head coach Jacob Ghost Mulee, who also doubles as the organiser.
Speaking ahead of the scouting activity, Mulee revealed the partnership's goal: 'We still believe that we have much more local talents to showcase in this tournament. We hope that through this soccer tournament, we will encourage our youth to be more productive with their lives and perhaps venture into football as a full-time career.'
Up to eight teams are scheduled to participate, including Chapa Dimba All Stars, Kariobangi Sharks U 20, and Koth Biro All Stars. The tournament will start at 9am and culminate at 5 pm, with the champion to be crowned.
On his part, Odibets country marketing manager Aggrey Sayi outlined the firm's commitment to nurturing talents through similar partnerships: 'Odibets is always on the lookout for mutually beneficial partnerships that will leave a lasting impact on our communities even as we focus on giving Kenyans an ample gaming experience.'
