On August 15, 2019, the UK lifted advisories on Narok, Naivasha, and Meru, allowing British tourists to visit these areas without heightened vigilance.

The UK's Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) had previously advised its citizens to be 'particularly vigilant' in these areas due to a terrorism threat.

However, the FCO has maintained its advisory for Nairobi, the Coast, and resort areas around Mombasa and Malindi, warning of possible terrorist attacks, including kidnappings.

Britons have also been asked to be cautious while travelling through or in counties on Kenya's northern border.

According to the FCO, attacks could target Westerners, including British nationals, and could be indiscriminate in places frequented by foreigners, such as hotels, bars, restaurants, and nightclubs.

Other potential targets include sporting events, supermarkets, shopping centres, commercial buildings, coastal areas, government buildings, airports, buses, and trains.

The UK was the fourth largest source market for tourists in Kenya in 2018, with 184,002 Britons visiting the country that year.
