On August 15, 2019, Atoto Sports management and betting firm Odibets launched the 'Champions of Champions' grassroots football tournament at the Camp Toyoyo grounds in Jericho.
The event aimed to provide a platform for talented Kenyan footballers to showcase their skills and potentially earn professional contracts in Europe.
Eight men's teams, including Chapa Dimba AllStars, Kariobangi Sharks U20, Koth Biro AllStars, Acakoro, Eastleigh Youth, Liberty U20, Kriss Darlin AllStars, and Roya Wanyama AllStars, competed in the tournament.
Three European scouts and former Harambee Stars coach Jacob 'Ghost' Mulee were present to select the cream of talents from the hundreds of players participating.
According to Mulee, the ultimate aim of the tournament was to encourage Kenyan youth to be more productive with their leisure time and consider football as a full-time career.
Mulee has a proven track record of nurturing talent, having managed Kenya at the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia and helping Harambee Stars striker Michael Olunga secure a reported Sh16 million transfer to IF Djurgardens in Sweden in 2015.
Other notable players who have benefited from similar programs include Ex-Kenya internationals Macdonald Mariga and Robert Mambo.
