On August 15, 2019, American rapper ASAP Rocky was found guilty of assault in absentia by a Swedish court, following an altercation in Stockholm.
The court's ruling came after four judges issued their decision, finding ASAP Rocky guilty of assaulting a man during a street fight. According to the judges, ASAP Rocky and his two friends were not in a situation where they were entitled to self-defense.
The altercation took place in June, and prosecutors claimed that ASAP Rocky threw a bottle at the victim, causing him to get badly cut. However, they were unable to find a witness who saw the bottle being thrown.
ASAP Rocky's case drew international attention, with many onlookers believing that he was acting in self-defense against two Swedish immigrants who attacked him and his crew.
