On August 15, 2019, a heated confrontation erupted between Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika and a member of President Uhuru Kenyatta's security detail at a public event in Nakuru town.
The incident, which has since gone viral on social media, occurred when the Senator's handbag raised suspicions among the security team, leading to a physical altercation.
According to eyewitnesses, the female bodyguard attempted to screen the Senator's handbag, but she resisted, prompting the security detail to take action.
Other leaders present, including Nakuru West MP Samuel Arama and County Speaker Joel Kairu, intervened to calm the situation after the altercation.
President Kenyatta was in Nakuru town to attend the national music festival gala at State House and the opening of Ugatuzi Plaza, which houses the Nakuru assembly chamber.
