Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika Allegedly Slapped by Uhuru's Security Detail ¶
Senator Susan Kihika was allegedly roughed up and slapped by President Uhuru Kenyatta's security detail during a visit to Nakuru town on August 14, 2019.
According to reports, the incident occurred when Kihika was ordered away by the security personnel, who mistook her for one of the area MCAs. However, she fought her way back to the restricted area, sparking a bitter argument.
It was later revealed that Kihika was not among the area MCAs, but rather a senator who was supposed to welcome Uhuru upon his arrival. The security personnel, however, did not recognize her and instead thumped her on the face and slapped her twice on the left cheek and shoulder.
It took the intervention of Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui and Nakuru West MP Samuel Arama for normalcy to be restored.
Speaking about the incident, Arama said, 'The security guys didn’t know who is who. It was unfortunate that this brought about the confusion. However, the senator took no offence and has not complained about it.'
Kihika later denied being involved in any altercation, dismissing a Facebook post on a page with a similar username as hers that condemned the incident.
