On January 2, Joyce Okoth visited her boyfriend, Myron Odhiambo, at his house in Nairobi West, where she spent three nights. According to Okoth, she had gone to his house to 'serve him without pay' for four days.
However, Odhiambo told a Kibera court that he had invited Okoth to his house and after having a good time for four days, she left early on January 5, taking his laptop and three tablets with her.
Okoth is accused of stealing items worth over Sh300,000, including a HP laptop worth Sh135,000, three tablets worth Sh160,000, and a hard disc worth Sh16,000. She claimed she was paying herself for the services she had rendered.
Security guards manning the house said they were asleep and did not see the girl leave, the court heard. Odhiambo reported the matter at Nairobi West police station.
Okoth's defense that she was paying herself for her services has raised eyebrows, with Odhiambo stating that he had no business agreement with her and that she regularly asked him for petty cash.
