Some fans questioned the effectiveness of VAR in such situations, with one fan stating, "So, genuinely what is the point of VAR!?. Adrian clearly has both feet off the line when Abraham strikes the ball, but it's not been retaken. Utterly ridiculous."
The result marked a disappointing start for new Chelsea boss Frank Lampard, who replaced Sarri at Stamford Bridge after Sunday's 4-0 bashing at Old Trafford.
