On August 15, 2019, the government renewed Mozzart Bet's operating license, bringing an end to a month-long dispute between betting firms and the Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB).
Mozzart Bet, one of 27 affected betting companies, had its operational license and Paybill number withdrawn on July 11.
The government claimed the decision was made due to the firms' default on tax payments, a stance supported by President Uhuru Kenyatta on July 13.
However, Mozzart Bet opted to negotiate with BCLB, and after a clean bill of health, the firm was cleared to resume operations under operating license number 000135 and Paybill number 290059.
With its license renewed, Mozzart Bet is set to unveil its Sh10 million JackPot winner in Nairobi on Friday.
Additionally, 10 of the other affected betting firms are in negotiations with the government and could resume operations soon.
