Published on August 15, 2019, Mombasa Police have been given a deadline to open charges against five individuals arrested at the home of wanted Mombasa tycoon Ali Punjani.
The five individuals, including Ali Punjani's wife, appeared before Shanzu Resident Magistrate David Odhiambo on Tuesday but did not take a plea as there were no charges prepared by the police.
The prosecution had requested seven days to conclude investigations, but the court granted them a shorter timeframe.
Two of the arrested individuals, foreigners from Nepal and India, are employees at the palatial home who allegedly provided false information when police raided the house on Monday evening.
The three individuals arrested are in custody over drug trafficking allegations.
According to Mombasa Police Commander Johnstone Ipara, the raid at Punjani's palatial home was in search of drugs.
