On August 14, a senseless act of violence shook the quiet town of Kitengela when a man was beheaded by two men inside a betting shop.

The incident occurred at 11:47am, just 20 meters away from a police post, highlighting the alarming level of insecurity in the area.

According to eyewitnesses, the attackers confronted the victim inside the betting shop, locked the door, and slit his throat.

Residents, who heard the commotion, broke down the shop's door and found the victim bleeding from his neck.

Police arrived swiftly and rescued the suspects from the angry mob, but not before the officers were forced to shoot in the air to disperse the crowd.

The residents accused the police of allowing prohibited gambling activities to thrive under their watch, and the betting spots of serving as breeding grounds for criminals.

The suspects are being held at Kitengela Police Station, while the victim's body was taken to a Kajiado hospital.
