UEFA Super Cup: Liverpool Wins Thrilling Match Against Chelsea

On August 14, 2019, Liverpool won the UEFA Super Cup after defeating Chelsea 5-4 in a penalty shootout, following a 2-2 draw in the regular time of the match.

The match was played at the Vodafone Arena in Istanbul, Turkey. Liverpool had previously won the Champions League title by defeating Tottenham in the final, while Chelsea had won the Europa League title by defeating Arsenal in the final.

Chelsea had been expected to win the match, especially after their 4-0 win over Manchester United in their opening match of the season. However, Liverpool's Sadio Mane scored the equalizing goal in the 95th minute, sending the match into a penalty shootout.

Adrian, who replaced Alisson Becker in goal, saved a penalty from Tammy Abraham, helping Liverpool win the match 5-4 in the penalty shootout.

Chelsea had taken the lead in the 36th minute through Olivier Giroud, but Liverpool equalized through Mane in the 95th minute. The match ended 2-2 in the regular time, setting the stage for the thrilling penalty shootout.
