Nairobi County football team marked a significant turnaround in their KICOSCA games campaign with a 5-1 thrashing of Ugatuzi team on Wednesday, August 14, 2019, at Kericho Technical Training College grounds in Kericho County.
The victory came as a welcome relief for Nairobi County, who had suffered a similar 5-1 defeat at the hands of Meru County on Tuesday. Their opening match against Samburu County had ended in a 1-1 draw on Monday.
Forward Cyrus Oloo and midfielder Alex Mwangi were the stars of the show, each scoring a brace to help Nairobi County take a commanding 4-0 lead by the 52nd minute. The fifth goal was scored by Mwangi from the penalty spot after Ugatuzi's goalie, Peter Mwash, fouled Oliver Sambo.
Ugatuzi managed to score a consolation goal in the 86th minute through Chrispine Opiyo, but it was too little, too late to change the outcome of the match.
The KICOSCA games, which have attracted over 7,000 participants from all 47 counties in Kenya, will conclude on Saturday, August 17, 2019.
