Manchester United's Alexis Sanchez is on the brink of being demoted to the reserve team by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, according to The Sun on August 14, 2019.

The move is aimed at forcing Sanchez out of Old Trafford, where he has struggled since joining from Arsenal in 2018 for a reported big-money transfer.

Sanchez's hefty salary of £500,000 per week has made it difficult for United to offload him, with Roma reportedly interested in signing him on loan this summer.

However, the club may have to share the burden of Sanchez's wages, which would amount to £8.6 million until the January transfer window.

The latest development comes after reports of a training ground spat between Sanchez and youngster Mason Greenwood during pre-season.
