Petro de Luanda has finalized the signing of Gor Mahia forward Jacques Tuyisenge in a KSh 15 million transfer, according to club statements. The Angolan side confirmed the deal after weeks of negotiations with the Kenyan Premier League champions.
Tuyisenge, who joined Gor Mahia in 2016 for KSh 4 million, made over 100 appearances during his three-year spell. His departure follows a CAF Confederations Cup clash in which he scored the decisive goal against Petro de Luanda, eliminating them from the tournament.
Gor Mahia announced Tuyisenge's exit on July 11, 2019, alongside other departures like Francis Kahata. The club's statement confirmed the transfer terms, though no details about compensation were disclosed. The move leaves Gor Mahia's attack line weakened ahead of the 2021 AFCON qualifiers, where they aim to secure a spot in the tournament.
Tuyisenge's departure comes as Gor Mahia struggled in continental competitions, having been eliminated from the CECAFA Kagame Cup in 2019. The club had last won the CECAFA title in 1985, marking a 34-year drought in the regional tournament.
A statement from Gor Mahia read: "Tuyisenge is in the process of joining Angolan giants Petro Atlético de Luanda. Both clubs have agreed on terms of the deal." No further details about the striker's future with the new club were provided.
