On Thursday, 15th August 2019, First Lady Margaret Kenyatta visited Engineer Town in Nyandarua County to officially launch the 4th Beyond Zero Medical Safari.
The medical drive, which kicked off on 14th August 2019 with patient registration, assessment, and screening, will run for three days at Engineer Stadium.
Organizations participating in the medical safari include the Beth Mugo Cancer Foundation, Women for Cancer, and NHIF, which will provide free screening for breast, cervical, and prostate cancer, register pregnant women for the Linda Mama programme, and screen for cardiovascular conditions, respectively.
Other participating entities include Vision Springs, Agarwals Eye Hospital, and Lions Eye Hospital, which will provide eye care for the elderly, while the National Council for People with Disability and A.I.C Cure International will assess and register persons with disability.
The Medical Safaris are at the core of the First Lady's Beyond Zero second strategic framework, which runs from 2018 to 2022 and aims to leave no one behind through a life-cycle approach targeting various groups.
Before the launch, the First Lady will visit the Engineer County Referral Hospital to open the Mother and Baby Wing, and launch the Nyandarua Business Plan for the elimination of Mother-to-Child Transmission (eMTCT) of HIV.
