After completing high school in 2015, Derrick Lijodi's path to entrepreneurship began. Despite not having the opportunity to pursue further education, he went out to look for a job but was unsuccessful. He then resorted to self-employment, which eventually led him to the branding business.
In 2016, Derrick set up his startup, Radical Designs, in partnership with a close friend. The enterprise has been in operation for about a year and aspires to establish itself as a main player in the market. Derrick's vision for Radical Designs is to become one of the top 100 SMEs in the country and serve major corporate clients.
“In the future I hope to have Radical Designs to be among the Top 100 SMEs in the country and serving major corporate clients. It is not a journey that will be easy but it is one that I will ensure will be fruitful,” Derrick says.
Business Coach linked Derrick with Victor Agita, the founder of Gitz Design Limited, a major player in branding, so that he can offer Derrick advice on how to scale up the business. Victor shared some valuable insights on how to grow a business, including having a clear focus as the vision bearer, modeling your business around your dream, saving with growth in mind, and retaining clients through quality output.
With the help of Victor's advice, Derrick is working towards scaling up Radical Designs and achieving his vision. The branding business is capital-intensive, but Derrick is determined to save and invest in his business to reduce costs and increase profits.
As Derrick continues to grow his business, he is also focused on retaining clients through quality output and staying up-to-date with market trends. With hard work and determination, Derrick is confident that Radical Designs will become a successful and reputable branding outfit in the country.
